Go to Start, Settings and select the Control Panel. Double click on the QuickTime Icon. The first item in the Drop Down box should be ?About QuickTime?. It should be version 6.0 or higher. Then click in the Drop Down box and select Video Settings (it is the last item). Check the option for Safe Mode. Click in the Drop Down box again, and go back up and select Sound Out; where it says 'Choose a Device for Playback, select WaveOut, and then click the Options button. Change the "Buffer Size in millisecs" to 60, and change the "Number of Buffers in FIFO" to 15 and then close QuickTime and try the lectures again.
For QuickTime 7 users, click "Edit", at the top of the QuickTime player. On the drop down menu, choose "preferences", and then "QuickTime preferences". This will bring up the "QuickTime Settings" window. Click the "advanced" tab, and under video, click the circle for "safe mode". Once you have chosen safe mode, click on the "audio" tab, and under the devices section, click the box for "safe mode". To correctly view the CPA/CFA course, you must have your monitor display set for 16-bit color at a minimum resolution of 1024x768. You will receive a message when you attempt to start the program in any other color mode.
To view the Simulations Software, a resolution of 1024 x 768 is required. Although you can use the application with lower resolutions, many of the screens will be cut off. The resolution at the actual exam will be 1024 x 768, so it is highly recommended that you use the same setting on your computer to get comfortable with the size.
To change the display setting on your monitor:
1. Open the Control Panel located under Settings in the Start menu.
2. Double click on the Display icon.
3. Click the Settings tab.
4. Select 1024 x 768 resolution in Desktop Area.
5. Select the highest available setting from the Color Palette menu. You may need to restart Windows before the settings can take effect.
